The Government of Ghana has successfully paid $349.52 million in Eurobond debt service, bringing the country fully up to date on all its scheduled Eurobond obligations for the year, the Ministry of Finance has announced.

This marks the third significant post-restructuring Eurobond payment since the conclusion of Ghana’s Eurobond debt restructuring deal in October 2024. According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the cumulative debt service payments now stand at $1.17 billion. The payments were made in three tranches — $475.60 million in October 2024, $349.52 million in January 2025, and the latest $349.52 million in July 2025 — all processed through the Bank of Ghana.

The Ministry emphasized that this timely payment signals Ghana’s renewed commitment to macroeconomic stability and responsible debt management, as the country continues its recovery journey under the IMF-supported economic reform program.

The Finance Ministry further noted that the payment is expected to:

  • Enhance Ghana’s credit rating outlook, signaling discipline in post-restructuring debt servicing;

  • Bolster investor confidence in the country’s sovereign risk profile and recovery trajectory;

  • Stabilize the forex market, given the planned integration of such payments into the Bank of Ghana’s reserve and liquidity strategies.

Looking ahead, Ghana has a debt service schedule of $1.41 billion on its Eurobonds for 2026. The Ministry reaffirmed the government’s commitment to meeting those obligations on time and in full.

The announcement comes at a time when Ghana is making visible efforts to rebuild credibility in international financial markets following its historic debt restructuring process, which included both domestic and external creditors.

The Finance Ministry’s assurance of transparency and proactive debt management is likely to be welcomed by investors and development partners seeking greater certainty and stability in Ghana’s economic outlook.
