Insurers to extend insurance products to disabled community members

In a significant move to promote inclusivity, the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) has committed to extending insurance products to disabled individuals in society. This initiative was highlighted during Insurance Awareness Month, where member companies of the Association collectively supported the upkeep of inmates at the Demonstration School for the Deaf in Mampong-Akuapem, Eastern Region.

Second Vice President of GIA, Mr. Henry Bukari, emphasized that this year’s theme, “Promoting Inclusivity and Accessibility,” underscores the Association’s dedication to providing insurance coverage to all community members, including persons with disabilities.

“We are committed to ensuring that our products and services are accessible to every member of the community, not just the affluent,” Mr. Bukari stated. “Our visit to the school is a practical demonstration of our theme, highlighting our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for all, including persons with disabilities.”

During the event, the GIA presented a range of essential items to the school, including food rations and other supplies. This gesture aims to support the daily needs of the students and staff, demonstrating the Association’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Mr. Bukari also called on other corporate institutions to support such initiatives, emphasizing the importance of providing opportunities and support to all segments of society. “We must support them with infrastructure, transport, food, and more to ensure they have a meaningful life,” he said.

This initiative marks a continued effort by the GIA to create a more inclusive insurance sector, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has access to essential insurance products.
