IPR UPSA chapter launched
THE Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana, in collaboration with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has announced the inauguration of the IPR-Ghana Student Chapter at UPSA.
This event marks an important advancement for the public relations profession in Ghana and serves to empower the next generation of leaders in the field.
Theme: Building the Next Generation of Public Relations Leaders
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Donald Gwira, Vice President of IPR Ghana, highlighted the strategic role of PR in nation-building and governance.
“Public relations is about shaping perceptions, building trust, and managing reputations,” Mr. Gwira remarked, underscoring the growing demand for strategic communication in today’s fast-paced, interconnected world.
The newly inaugurated IPR-Ghana Student Chapter aligns with IPR’s 2024-2028 Strategic Pillars: fostering Professional Excellence, building a Strong Community with an Impactful Voice locally and globally, and equipping students with knowledge and practical skills
Mr. Gwira emphasised that this chapter will serve as a bridge between academia and the PR industry, providing students with opportunities for mentorship, practical experience, and professional networking.
“The launch of this chapter represents a commitment to fostering innovation, professionalism, and ethical standards among the next generation of public relations practitioners,” Gwira noted.
A Call for Continuous Learning and Innovation
Mr Gwira encouraged students to embrace continuous learning and adapt to the changing communication landscape. He highlighted trends such as data-driven PR, crisis management in the digital age, influencer marketing, and corporate social responsibility as key areas that will shape the profession’s future.

Closing his address, Gwira stressed that ethics and integrity are foundational to public relations. He urged students to adhere to principles of truth, honesty, and transparency, noting that “our profession thrives on trust, and upholding ethical standards is essential for building lasting relationships with clients and the public.”
The IPR-Ghana Student Chapter at UPSA is poised to empower students with the tools and skills necessary for a successful transition into the workforce, positioning them to contribute meaningfully to the PR profession and national development.
