GACL’s Terminal 2 Repurposing Progresses Steadily

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is advancing work on the repurposing of Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and position Ghana as the preferred aviation hub in West Africa.
The project, aimed at optimizing underutilized spaces within Terminal 2, will facilitate both domestic and international operations, alleviating congestion at Terminal 3 and supporting the anticipated rise in passenger traffic.
GACL’s Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has assured stakeholders of continuous engagement throughout the process to ensure airlines are fully prepared to operate from the upgraded terminal upon completion.
As part of this engagement, GACL hosted a walkthrough for airline representatives to inspect the project’s progress. Airline officials expressed satisfaction with the work done so far and provided feedback on operational readiness, activation, and transition (ORAT) processes required for a seamless transition.
With Ghana attracting new airlines and expanding connectivity, the repurposing of Terminal 2 is a strategic investment to boost airport capacity, improve passenger experience, and solidify KIA’s status as a key aviation hub in the sub-region.
