Ghana Taps into Global Entrepreneurship Congress to Attract Investment, Boost Innovation

Ghana is stepping onto the global entrepreneurship stage once again, as President John Dramani Mahama designates Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, to lead the country’s delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) 2025, scheduled to take place from June 2–5 in Indiana, USA.
The high-profile event, hosted by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) in partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, is expected to convene over 10,000 entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and ecosystem builders from more than 200 countries. With the theme “The Bold Transforms the World,” GEC 2025 will focus on catalyzing startup innovation, scaling entrepreneurial solutions, and unlocking new global growth pathways.
According to Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, Country Founder of GEN-Ghana, the President’s decision reflects Ghana’s continued prioritization of entrepreneurship and private-sector-driven development as key levers for transforming its economy. “The Minister’s participation in the GEC Ministerial Summit, bilateral investment forums, and high-level policy dialogues will help strengthen Ghana’s voice on the global stage and unlock new international partnerships for job creation and innovation,” he said.
The Ghanaian delegation will include stakeholders from government, the private sector, startup hubs, and the diaspora. Their mission: showcase Ghana’s growing startup ecosystem, highlight investment opportunities—particularly in agribusiness—and position Ghana as a rising innovation hub in West Africa.
Ghana’s presence at GEC Indiana is expected to drive momentum for its international economic diplomacy agenda, which seeks to build MSME capacity, foster global trade linkages, and attract strategic investments into high-impact sectors. The trip will also provide an avenue for Ghana to deepen public-private partnerships while accessing cutting-edge insights into startup policy, digital transformation, and capital mobilization.
Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare’s leadership of the delegation is widely seen as a continuation of her ministry’s focus on expanding trade and agribusiness linkages through innovation, with Ghana poised to leverage global networks to accelerate domestic industrialization.
