Ghanaian Startup Wins Second Place in Inaugural Communications Accelerator

Ghanaian tech scaleup Stemaide Africa has clinched second place in the inaugural Accelerate with Djembe program, a pioneering communications-focused accelerator launched by Djembe Consultants, a leading communications firm serving the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

The announcement was made during a demo day event held in Accra, where the top four winning startups were unveiled. YY ReGen from Lebanon emerged as the first-place winner, while Mzuri Organics (Kenya) and Saving System (Egypt) tied for third place.

The Accelerate with Djembe program is the world’s first accelerator dedicated to helping scaleups in MEA strengthen their communications strategy, including branding, digital marketing, public relations, and investor engagement. Over the past six months, cohort participants received tailored support to refine their messaging, sharpen market positioning, and connect with global investment and media networks.

As a second-place winner, Stemaide Africa will receive six months of top-tier advisory services from Djembe, including crisis preparedness, data analysis, market insight, and media and investor relations. The firm will also be introduced to a vast ecosystem of global business leaders, media experts, and development partners across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Speaking at the event, Djembe CEO Mitchell Prather noted that the program was designed to close the communications gap faced by many African and Middle Eastern startups. “Innovation can indeed be powered by storytelling,” he emphasized. “We are proud of the winners and look forward to deepening our support as they scale.”

Collectively, the cohort of startups secured over $350,000 in funding and support from major institutions like UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and Orange Corners during the program. Djembe Consultants has helped more than 100 startups and scaleups in MEA raise over $8.7 million since 2012.
