Kantanka Founder and Ghanaian Inventor Kwadwo Safo Dies at 77

Ghanaian technologist, inventor, and industrialist Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Safo Kantanka, has passed away at the age of 77, his family announced on Sunday.
The founder of the Kantanka automobile brand, who was also renowned as a philanthropist, religious leader, and agriculturist, died on Thursday, according to the family’s statement.
Born in 1948, Safo rose to national prominence in the 1990s through the public exhibition of his groundbreaking inventions, ranging from vehicles and electronic appliances to innovative farming equipment. His generosity also stood out, as he regularly donated large quantities of foodstuffs to institutions such as schools, prisons, and orphanages.
In 2014, his Kantanka vehicle brand received full certification and licensing from government agencies, officially paving the way for his cars to be sold in Ghana’s automobile market.
