2024 WASSCE results for school candidates out
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates. The announcement was made on Monday, December 30, 2024.
In a statement, WAEC cautioned the public against falling victim to fraudsters offering fraudulent result upgrade services for a fee. The council emphasized that such claims are false and urged candidates and stakeholders to report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

Statistics from the 2024 WASSCE
A total of 460,611 candidates from 1,003 schools sat for the exams, comprising 212,954 males and 247,657 females. This marks a 2.66% increase from the 2023 entry figure of 448,674 candidates. Despite the impressive turnout, 4,609 candidates (1.0%) were absent from the examinations.
Disciplinary Actions for Malpractice
WAEC revealed disciplinary measures taken against candidates found engaging in examination malpractice:
- 4,108 candidates had their subject results canceled for using unauthorized materials in the examination hall.
- 483 candidates had their entire results canceled for possessing mobile phones during the exams.
- 781 subject results were withheld pending further investigation into suspected malpractice.
The council reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and ensuring fairness for all candidates.
