The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) made remarkable strides in 2024, publishing 1,400 research works, marking a significant achievement in its academic and research pursuits. This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako, during an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted the university’s bright prospects for 2025 and emphasized the importance of unity among the university community. He called for collective efforts to further advance UENR’s mission, urging staff and students to approach the new academic year with renewed motivation and a commitment to excellence.
Reflecting on the achievements of 2024, Professor Asare-Bediako noted substantial growth in infrastructure. Among the key milestones was the completion of the state-of-the-art Bank of Ghana University Auditorium. Additionally, he expressed optimism about the ongoing construction of an administration block and hospital facilities, which are expected to be completed in 2025.
The Vice Chancellor also acknowledged the significant growth in the university’s student population, which has risen from an initial 154 students in 2011 to over 14,000 currently. This remarkable expansion underscores UENR’s growing influence and reputation in higher education.
Professor Asare-Bediako commended the governing council, management, faculty heads, lecturers, non-teaching staff, and students for their unwavering support and contributions to the university’s progress. He emphasized the need for all stakeholders to work even harder in the coming year to achieve UENR’s vision of becoming a world-class university.
As the new academic year begins, UENR stands poised to build on its achievements, fostering academic excellence, research innovation, and infrastructural development to solidify its status as a leader in higher education.
