COFAAA congratulates Randy Abbey on appointment as COCOBOD CEO

The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Randy Abbey on his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) by President John Dramani Mahama. COFAAA expressed confidence in Abbey’s leadership, emphasizing that his expertise and dedication will drive the cocoa sector towards greater sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity.

His appointment comes at a crucial time when the cocoa industry is navigating challenges such as climate change, fair pricing, and the need for increased value addition. COFAAA believes his leadership will help COCOBOD set new benchmarks in addressing these issues while ensuring the prosperity of Ghana’s cocoa farmers.

Additionally, the association acknowledged the recent visit of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) Executive Director, Mitchel Arrion, to Yaoundé, Cameroon, for the 111th Ordinary Session of the ICCO. COFAAA noted that this visit highlights ICCO’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and advancing the welfare of cocoa farmers across Africa.

The association emphasized that stronger synergies between ICCO, COCOBOD, and other industry stakeholders will enhance the sustainability and inclusivity of the global cocoa industry. COFAAA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with COCOBOD under Abbey’s leadership to champion initiatives that improve farmers’ livelihoods and strengthen Africa’s position in the global cocoa trade.

COFAAA pledged its full support to Abbey as he embarks on his new role, expressing optimism that his tenure will elevate the Ghanaian cocoa sector and the broader African cocoa ecosystem.
