Ghana Steps Up in Global Digital Economy with Launch of AIDEC’s New BPO Hub

Ghana’s ambition to become a leading digital outsourcing destination received a major boost with the official launch of AIDEC Digital’s state-of-the-art Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre in Accra. The new facility—developed by AIDEC Digital, a subsidiary of the AIDEC Group of Companies—is being hailed as a transformative step in Ghana’s digital evolution, with far-reaching implications for job creation, youth empowerment, and foreign investment attraction.

Held under the theme “Global Competitiveness and Strategic Partnerships: Positioning Ghana as a Top Digital Outsourcing Hub”, the launch brought together key players from the tech industry, government, and regulatory bodies. The event highlighted the potential of strategic collaborations in advancing Ghana’s standing in the global digital economy.

“This launch is yet another milestone in our journey to make Ghana a digital outsourcing hub,” said Sir Ambrose Yennah, Founder and Executive Chairman of AIDEC Group. “With our growing digital ecosystem, a skilled and youthful population, and our strategic location, Ghana is poised to take advantage of the global BPO opportunity.”

Globally, the BPO market is valued at US$321 billion and is expected to rise to US$525 billion by 2030. Currently, Africa holds just 2% of the market share, with South Africa, Egypt, and Morocco controlling a dominant 87% of that slice. AIDEC’s move aims to change that narrative by placing Ghana on the map as a serious contender.

Ghana’s strengths—such as political stability, English language proficiency, high university graduation rates, and favourable time zones—were flagged as key attractions for investors. “AIDEC’s investment signals confidence in Ghana’s capacity to compete globally,” said David Gowu, CEO of the Business Outsourcing Services Association Ghana (BOSAG). “We’re not just talking growth—we’re creating jobs, empowering youth, and building a digital workforce for the future.”

The facility offers a broad range of services, including AI and data analytics, customer support, software development, digital marketing, e-learning, and IT certification. Emmanuel Gbeve, Chief Technology Officer of AIDEC, underscored the center’s technical readiness and compliance with global standards, confirming its certification by the Cyber Security Authority and robust security architecture.

Crucially, the AIDEC BPO Centre is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing youth unemployment. With BOSAG targeting the creation of one million BPO-related jobs in five years, AIDEC’s new hub will serve as a launchpad for training and upskilling Ghanaian youth in digital competencies.

Since its establishment in 2020, AIDEC has made significant strides in Ghana’s tech space—launching the country’s first AI Center of Excellence, founding the AIDEC Academy, and supporting various digital innovation platforms like Africoursity and AIDECIA.

“This isn’t about competition—it’s about collaboration,” said Kafui Amanfu of the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH). “The success of our BPO ambitions will rely on ecosystem-wide cooperation.”

Echoing that sentiment, Isaac Newton Acquah of the International Trade Centre remarked: “It’s excellence and community-driven initiatives like this, backed by groups like BOSAG and IIPGH, that will help us push the IT/BPO sector forward—both locally and on the global stage.”

With this major investment, AIDEC has not only strengthened Ghana’s digital infrastructure but also laid the foundation for sustainable, tech-driven economic growth through global outsourcing.
