Perseus Mining Ghana Elevates Local Talent in Strategic Leadership Reshuffle at Edikan Gold Mine

Perseus Mining Ghana Limited has announced a major leadership transition at its Edikan Gold Mine as part of its strategy to strengthen local talent and sustain operational excellence. Effective 1 July 2025, the company has appointed a new leadership team to guide the next phase of Edikan’s growth.
Daniel Egya-Mensah, who has served as General Manager since 2023, will take on the newly established role of Chief Executive Officer of Perseus Mining Ghana Limited. Daniel, with over 25 years of mining experience at firms such as Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti, and Teberebie Goldfields, will now focus on strategic oversight and stakeholder engagement. Under his leadership, Edikan has achieved key production, cost, and safety milestones, positioning the mine for continued success in 2025.
Succeeding Daniel as General Manager is Alexander Kofi Oduro, previously Mining and Technical Services Manager. With 17 years of experience across Ghana and international mining operations, Alexander is recognised for driving efficiency and innovation, and is set to lead Edikan through its next chapter of development.
Further reinforcing the leadership pipeline, Amatus Niminye will step into Alexander’s former role. Known for his expertise in mine operations and innovative blasting techniques, Amatus will play a critical role in optimising Edikan’s mining strategies.
Perseus Mining’s CEO and Managing Director, Jeff Quartermaine, praised the appointments, stating, “These changes reflect our strong commitment to developing Ghanaian talent and building a culture of leadership. We are confident this team will drive our continued success at Edikan.”
The company highlighted that 100% of Edikan’s management and workforce are Ghanaian nationals, underscoring Perseus Mining’s focus on local capacity building and sustainable development.
