The Savannah Regional Immigration Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI) Lawrence Agyei Agyapong, has embarked on a strategic engagement with regional authorities to strengthen border security and enhance operations of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the region.

During a courtesy visit to the Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe Issifu, DCOI Agyapong discussed measures to bolster security management and logistical support for the GIS. The Minister commended the Service’s role in effectively managing Savannah Region’s boundaries with Côte d’Ivoire and pledged the Regional Coordinating Council’s (RCC) full support.

DCOI Agyapong also met the West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Yakubu Yussif Castro, where discussions focused on improving residential and office accommodation as well as logistical capacity to enable the Service to operate more efficiently. Hon. Castro praised the Command’s commitment and pledged to collaborate closely to safeguard communities.

The visits are part of a broader stakeholder engagement and familiarisation tour aimed at mobilising resources, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring effective enforcement of migration laws for the safety of residents and the protection of Ghana’s borders.
