President John Dramani Mahama has left Accra for a two-nation official visit to Japan and Singapore, as part of efforts to deepen Ghana’s bilateral relations, expand trade and investment opportunities, and strengthen cooperation on shared development priorities.

Communication from the Presidency explained that in Japan, President Mahama will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is scheduled to address a plenary session on the theme “Promoting Trade and Investment.” He will also headline a Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, showcasing Ghana’s investment potential and the Resetting Ghana agenda.

The President will hold a series of bilateral meetings with key Japanese leaders, including the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), senior officials of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Discussions are expected to focus on trade, technical cooperation, and infrastructure development.

From Japan, President Mahama will continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit. His engagements there will include a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, talks with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, and an address at an investment forum to present Ghana’s reform and investment priorities.

The visits are aimed at attracting investment, broadening market access for Ghanaian goods and services, and bolstering partnerships in infrastructure, technology, finance, and human capital development.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President, said the mission underscores Ghana’s determination to mobilize both domestic and international partnerships to accelerate economic transformation.
