How Stratcomm Africa’s Green Vision Won Ghana Four Global Awards

What began over a decade ago as a bold idea to make Ghanaians fall in love with plants and the environment again has blossomed into a global triumph.
Strategic Communications Africa Ltd. (Stratcomm Africa) has once again hoisted Ghana’s flag high on the international stage after winning four prestigious awards at the 2025 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards (GWA) held in Accra.
The globally recognized awards celebrate excellence and innovation in public relations practice, spotlighting projects that not only communicate but also create real impact in communities.
Turning Communication into a Tool for Change
At the heart of Stratcomm Africa’s achievement is its flagship initiative, the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement (GGFM), a vibrant campaign that uses communication to inspire environmental consciousness, promote green businesses, and encourage behaviour change.
The movement earned one of IPRA’s highest honours, the Global Contribution Award for Public Relations advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition, Stratcomm Africa scooped three other awards in the following categories:
• Agriculture and Forestry: Greenovation: Growing a Greener Ghana
• Climate Change and Environmental Education: Greenovation: Growing a Greener Ghana
• Sustainability Communication (Public Sector Collaboration): Partnerships for Green Growth
This marks the second time the agency has received one of IPRA’s top two global distinctions, a rare feat for any African communication firm, reaffirming Stratcomm Africa’s position as a leader in communication for development.
Ms. Cobbah’s Vision: Growing Change from the Ground Up
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah described the recognition as more than an industry milestone, a validation of how communication can drive social and environmental transformation.
“These awards are a testament to Stratcomm Africa’s commitment to using communication for transformative and developmental purposes,” she said. “The Ghana Garden and Flower Movement embodies our belief that communication can drive environmental stewardship, economic opportunity, and national pride. This recognition is for Ghana, Africa, and all who believe in innovative, purpose-driven communication.”
Her words echo the company’s long-held belief that strategic communication, when combined with purpose, can help nations confront challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and unemployment, while nurturing a culture of responsibility and pride.
A Movement Rooted in Growth
Launched in 2013, the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement has evolved into a national symbol of hope and one of the most successful advocacy campaigns in Ghana’s environmental history.
Through its flagship event, the Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS), the movement has inspired thousands of individuals, families, and organizations to plant more trees, beautify their surroundings, and embrace eco-friendly lifestyles.
Each year, the show attracts schoolchildren, entrepreneurs, and investors, offering opportunities for learning, networking, and green innovation. It has also helped to spotlight horticulture as a viable business sector, creating jobs and promoting local enterprise in floriculture and landscaping.
Putting Ghana on the Global Map
This year’s IPRA Golden World Awards brought together communication professionals from across the globe, and for many, Stratcomm Africa’s success stood out as a powerful example of how African creativity can shape global conversations on sustainability and development.
By merging storytelling with purpose, Stratcomm Africa continues to redefine what communication can achieve, proving that a well-told story can do more than inform. It can inspire action, create livelihoods, and grow nations greener.
