CIB Ghana Kicks Off 2025 Bankers’ Week with Wellness Drive to Promote Healthy Work Culture

The Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana has begun its 2025 Bankers’ Week celebrations with a health and fitness event dubbed ‘Sports for Life’ at the Athletics Oval of the University of Ghana, Legon, highlighting the Institute’s growing emphasis on staff wellbeing in the financial sector.

The event brought together banking professionals, students and industry stakeholders for cancer and mental-health awareness sessions, in line with ongoing global advocacy campaigns. Participants also engaged in a series of sporting activities including football, basketball, volleyball and board games designed to encourage teamwork, relaxation and physical activity.

Chief Executive Officer of CIB Ghana, Mr. Robert Dzato, said the initiative aligns with the Institute’s well-being agenda, which promotes physical and mental health as core pillars for sustaining high performance in banking institutions.

“Banking is a demanding profession and wellness cannot be overlooked. A strong, ethical and innovative financial sector depends on professionals who are mentally and physically healthy,” Mr. Dzato stated.

He explained that workplace wellness contributes to improved productivity, better decision-making and a more resilient workforce, especially as the banking sector adapts to rapid technological and operational changes.

The 2025 Bankers’ Week will continue with a series of professional development engagements, capacity-building activities and reflective industry sessions. Key activities include:

• 29th Annual Banking and Ethics Conference – November 11, 2025
• Induction and Graduation Ceremony – December 13, 2025
• Governor’s Day
• Carols Night and Thanksgiving Service –  December  19, 2025

The Week forms part of CIB Ghana’s broader commitment to shaping future-ready banking leadership, promoting ethical standards and reinforcing the profession’s contribution to national development.

CIB said it will continue to champion a balanced approach to professional excellence, one that values technical skill alongside physical wellness, emotional resilience and ethical responsibility.
