Unilever Ghana PLC has demonstrated resilience in a challenging economic environment, reporting a profit of GH58 million for 2024. This was revealed during the company’s presentation at the Ghana Stock Exchange’s ‘Facts Behind The Figures’ forum, where listed firms provide updates to stakeholders and investors.

Addressing the forum, Managing Director Christopher Wulff-Caesar noted that despite macroeconomic pressures and rising operational costs, Unilever Ghana achieved a revenue of GHS 930.8 million, up slightly from GHS 908.6 million in 2023. The company also maintained a healthy cash position of GH97 million, underscoring its operational efficiency and prudent financial management.

“Our performance in 2024 reflects not only the strength of our trusted brands but also the agility of our business model,” Mr. Wulff-Caesar stated. He pointed to sustained leadership in the Oral Care and Personal Care segments, driven by flagship brands such as Pepsodent, Geisha, and Vaseline.

As part of its growth strategy, Unilever Ghana expanded its Home Care segment with the launch of Omo Autos and the reintroduction of Omo Handwash, enhancing its competitiveness in the household category.

Aligned with Unilever’s global Growth Action Plan (GAP), the company is also investing heavily in sustainability initiatives. Through the Ghana Recycling Initiative by Private Enterprises (GRIPE), Unilever is helping to build a circular plastic economy. The company has rolled out plastics education programmes at its site and in selected basic schools in collaboration with stakeholders in the plastics value chain.

Further, in partnership with the British Government and Ernst & Young, Unilever Ghana supported two local enterprises in the plastic and agriculture sectors with funding of £100,000 each to drive innovation and growth.

Unilever’s hygiene education efforts also continue to make a national impact, with its Pepsodent “Twice Brushing” campaign reaching over one million Ghanaians annually, promoting proper oral hygiene practices among schoolchildren and community members.

Reaffirming the company’s commitment to social and business impact, Mr. Wulff-Caesar said: “We remain committed to driving consistent, competitive, profitable, and responsible growth through innovation, sustainability, and our people. Our purpose is clear, Brightening Everyday Life for All.”
