OmniBSIC Bank Health Walk Evolves into Major Business Platform, Attracts Thousands and Drives Economic Impact

OmniBSIC Bank’s 8th edition of its quarterly Health Walk has transcended its wellness roots to become one of Ghana’s largest integrated platforms for corporate networking, economic empowerment, and public health promotion.

Held at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, the event drew thousands of participants including bank staff, customers, vendors, and community stakeholders for an 11.3-kilometre walk followed by a record-setting vendor exhibition.

From Wellness to Business Catalyst

With over 100 vendors showcasing a broad array of goods and services, from automobiles and electronics to household items and professional services, the exhibition has grown into a robust microeconomic engine. According to Akyaa Afreh Arhin Addo-Kufuor, Chairperson of the Health Walk Committee and Group Head of Legal and Recovery at OmniBSIC Bank, the initiative is delivering measurable business value.

“What began as a wellness initiative has evolved into one of Ghana’s premier quarterly business engagement platforms,” Mrs. Addo-Kufuor stated. “We provide free booth space to vendors, both customers and non-customers creating a dynamic marketplace that benefits businesses and the community alike.”

Strategic Health Partnership Adds National Value

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has also thrown its weight behind the initiative, citing its alignment with national health objectives. Mabel Kisiwa Asafo, Acting Director of the GHS Health Promotion Division, lauded the event’s impact.

“Events like OmniBSIC’s Health Walk are strategic interventions for disease prevention and health promotion,” she said, noting the combination of physical activity, mental wellness, and networking creates a multi-dimensional impact on public health.

Corporate Brands Record Gains

Corporate sponsors such as Kasapreko Company Limited used the platform to activate products and strengthen client relationships. Nana Yaw Essiaw, Key Account Executive at Kasapreko, reported positive outcomes from the event.

“We are seeing strong patronage and meaningful business connections. The walk has facilitated valuable brand exposure while serving community wellness needs,” he noted.

High Attendance Despite Busy Weekend

Remarkably, the event maintained strong turnout despite being held on one of Accra’s busiest commercial Saturdays. Organisers say this proves its growing relevance on the social and business calendar.

“Participants are even calling for weekly editions,” Mrs. Addo-Kufuor revealed. “We are exploring ways to expand the event in upcoming quarters.”

A New Model for CSR in Banking

Originally designed as an internal staff wellness programme, OmniBSIC’s Health Walk has matured into a national model for corporate social responsibility, combining physical wellness, economic opportunity, and community engagement.

With plans to enhance future editions, OmniBSIC Bank is reinforcing its commitment to community development and inclusive business growth while cementing its brand as one of the most socially responsive institutions in Ghana’s banking sector.
