The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has dismissed recent claims of a shortage of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) in Ghana, assuring airlines and the general public that supply remains stable and uninterrupted.

A press release issued by the NPA, disclosed that engineers from the Ghana Petroleum Mooring System (GPMS) had completed the replacement of 600 meters of pipelines dedicated to ATK discharge, and were working round the clock to maintain supply efficiency.

“A vessel carrying 12,000 metric tonnes of ATK is currently discharging into major national depots, that is 6,000MT to Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), 1,500MT to Ridge Depot, and 4,500MT to PWSL, enough to meet demand for at least two weeks” the Authority stated.

In addition, two more vessels were anchored and ready to offload, with tankers currently transporting fuel from the Sahara Depot to airports, a signal of a resilient and intact supply chain.

The NPA advised the public and the media to disregard rumours of ATK shortages and emphasized its continued collaboration with stakeholders to guarantee product availability as part of its commitment to energy security.

The Authority also expressed appreciation to GPMS engineers for their dedication in ensuring seamless ATK supply to the aviation sector.
