Atlantic Catering is Ghana’s First Full-Service Hospitality Firm to Join UN Global Compact

Atlantic Catering has made history as the first Ghanaian full-service catering and hospitality company to sign onto the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The milestone was marked during a private onboarding ceremony held at the company’s head office in Accra on June 11, 2025. The event was attended by executives of Atlantic Catering and representatives from UN Global Compact Ghana.
The UNGC unites thousands of businesses globally that are committed to aligning their operations with ten universal principles covering human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, while working to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Welcoming Atlantic Catering to the network, Mr. Tolu Lacroix, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Ghana, praised the company’s leadership in sustainability. “Atlantic Catering’s membership reflects the growing role of Ghanaian businesses in driving ethical, responsible, and future-oriented practices. Their participation will further strengthen efforts to embed sustainability in all sectors of Ghana’s economy,” he said.
Atlantic Catering is weaving the Ten Principles of the UNGC into its CARES strategy, focusing on waste reduction, ethical sourcing, staff welfare, and environmental stewardship. “This is more than a membership for us; it is a reflection of who we are as a company,” said Maud Lindsay-Gamrat, CEO of Atlantic Catering. “True hospitality means caring for people, communities, and the planet.”
The company’s announcement, coinciding with World Environment Month, underscores its ambition to lead sustainable change within Ghana’s hospitality sector. Atlantic Catering’s leadership expressed optimism about working with peers globally to promote responsible business. “We believe business can and should be a force for good, and we are ready to contribute meaningfully to this global movement,” Lindsay-Gamrat added.
