aYo Ghana sweeps three awards
aYo Intermediaries Ghana LTD (aYo Ghana), the microinsurance arm of MTN Ghana, has secured three notable industry awards in 2024, solidifying its status as a leader in mobile insurance and a champion of financial inclusion in the country.
At the Ghana Corporate Brands Awards 2024, aYo Ghana was honored with the “Mobile Insurance Brand of the Year” award, recognizing its exceptional performance in the industry. Additionally, the company received the “Mobile Insurance Leadership Award” at the Ghana Insurance Awards 2024. Its innovative motor insurance product, aYo Pay & Drive, also earned the “Product Innovation of the Year Award.”
Under the leadership of CEO Francis Gota, aYo Ghana has significantly increased insurance penetration, reaching up to 25% of the Ghanaian population, especially those in the low-to-middle income bracket. This achievement is noteworthy in a country where insurance penetration remains below 2%.
Mr. Gota dedicated the awards to his team, expressing gratitude for their dedication and hard work. He emphasized that the company’s success is a collective effort, acknowledging the contributions of each employee. He encouraged aYo employees to stay positive and continue developing customer-centric products and services.
Over the past seven years, aYo has committed to creating a future where every Ghanaian not only purchases insurance but also uses it to enhance their quality of life. With over 8.2 million customers and more than GHS20 million in claims paid to over 47,000 policyholders and beneficiaries, aYo remains the leading microinsurance company in Ghana.
In collaboration with MTN and MobileMoney Ltd, aYo offers accessible, affordable, and easy-to-use microinsurance products to all MTN subscribers. Underwritten by Sanlam Allianz Ghana (Life and General), aYo provides hospitalization and life insurance coverage to policyholders and their families through airtime deduction or MoMo.
Currently, aYo offers four main products: Recharge with Care (RwC), RwC Annual Cover, aYo Family Cover, and the recently introduced aYo Pay & Drive, which aims to revolutionize motor insurance in the country. These products also assist low-income Ghanaians in covering funeral expenses for loved ones, thereby strengthening household resilience to risk. The hospital cash benefits cover hospital bills and provide income replacement for the policyholder’s income loss during hospitalization.
