Prez Mahama Appoints COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as New IGP

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.

COP Yohuno replaces COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and is expected to lead efforts to modernize and transform the Ghana Police Service. With 40 years of experience in law enforcement, his appointment signals the government’s commitment to strengthening security and enhancing policing strategies across the country.

As the new IGP, COP Yohuno is anticipated to implement key reforms aimed at improving public safety, crime prevention, and professional standards within the service. His leadership comes at a critical time when the nation seeks to bolster security measures and enhance trust between the police and the public.
