Government Pays GH¢10.8bn DDEP Coupon in Full and in Cash

Government says it has paid GH¢10.82 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), marking the third coupon payment made fully in cash and on schedule.
The payment of GH¢10,816,840,318.26, announced on Wednesday, August 19, brings the total amount paid to DDEP bondholders since 2025 to GH¢41.36 billion.
The latest payment is part of the government’s continuing obligations to investors whose domestic bonds were restructured under the DDEP.
According to the government, the coupon was paid in full and on schedule, which it says demonstrates its commitment to meeting its debt obligations.
Third full cash payment
The August payment is the third DDEP coupon payment made entirely in cash, according to the government.
The DDEP, launched as part of Ghana’s efforts to restructure its public debt, changed the terms of several domestic government securities held by banks, pension funds, asset managers and other investors.
The government has since been required to make scheduled payments under the restructured instruments.
With the latest payment, the government says it has now paid GH¢41.36 billion to DDEP bondholders since 2025.
Government commits to future payments
The government said the latest payment reflects its fiscal discipline and commitment to meeting its obligations under the debt exchange.
It also said the payment would help reduce sovereign default risk and support Ghana’s financial credibility.
The government has assured bondholders and the public that all future DDEP obligations will also be paid in full and on schedule.
That commitment will now be tested as further payments under the restructured domestic debt fall due.
