India Mourns With Ghana Over Helicopter Crash

The Government of India has extended heartfelt condolences to Ghana following the tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region that claimed the lives of several high-ranking officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, India’s government expressed profound sorrow over the incident and affirmed solidarity with the Government and people of Ghana during this period of national mourning.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those affected by this unfortunate incident. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace,” the statement read.

India’s expression of sympathy adds to the growing international tributes pouring in since the fatal crash, which has been described as a devastating blow to Ghana’s leadership and national development efforts.
