3Music, AT Ghana empower students with mentorship programme

In an effort to empower the next generation for academic and career success, 3Music, in collaboration with AT Ghana and other corporate partners, has launched a series of mentorship programs dubbed “Refresh” across various tertiary campuses in Ghana. The second session took place at the University of Education, Winneba, under the theme “Balancing Academic and Personal Growth: Navigating Success in College.”

Bridging the gap between academics and extracurricular activities

The “Refresh” mentorship program is designed to highlight the importance of balancing academic pursuits with extracurricular activities. During the event, industry leaders and professionals shared their experiences and insights on how involvement in sports, music, arts, and other non-academic activities can develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management.

Rashidatu Yasmine Abdulai, CEO of 3Music, emphasized the transformative power of extracurricular activities. “Extracurricular activities are not just about fun and games. They shape character, build resilience, and prepare students for future challenges. We are proud to partner with AT Ghana and other companies to encourage students to explore their passions beyond the classroom,” she said.

Corporate support for holistic education

Alex Offei Lartey, Head of Digital Marketing & New Product Development at AT Ghana, highlighted the corporate sector’s role in providing holistic education. “Our goal is to equip students with a well-rounded education. Extracurricular activities offer invaluable opportunities for personal and professional development. We urge students to seize these opportunities and broaden their horizons,” he stated.

Lartey also shared a personal anecdote to inspire the students: “My struggles in school taught me that until you are dead, you have equal chances to succeed as anyone else.” He recounted his journey, emphasizing how perseverance and involvement in extracurricular activities were pivotal to his success.

Positive feedback and future plans

The mentorship program received enthusiastic feedback from both students and school authorities. Stephanie Ankrah, a final-year student, remarked, “This event has opened my eyes to the many possibilities outside of academics. I’m now more motivated to join the school choir and the debate team.”
