Temporary closure of Accra-Kasoa overpass for repair works
The Ministry of Roads and Highways, in collaboration with the Department of Urban Roads, has announced a temporary closure of the Accra-bound carriageway on the N1 Kasoa Overpass to allow for essential repairs. Maintenance on the overpass, scheduled to begin on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 6:00 a.m., will focus on damaged expansion joints that are crucial to the bridge’s structural integrity.
A statement issued by the Ministry and shared with ghnewshub.com said the repair work is anticipated to last 10 days, with the carriageway set to reopen to traffic by Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
It announces that during the maintenance period, traffic on the Accra-bound side of the overpass will be redirected to the ground level beneath the bridge.
“Motorists are also encouraged to consider the Kasoa-Nyanyano Bypass as an alternative route to ease congestion,” the statement added.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways urged all motorists to follow the traffic management plans that will be in place and to exercise caution for the safety of workers and other road users. The Department of Urban Roads assured the public that the repair work will be completed on schedule to minimize disruption.
The Ministry and Department of Urban Roads extended their apologies for any inconvenience caused and expressed their commitment to restoring safe and efficient travel “on this vital route.”
