GhIPSS Reshapes Executive Team to Accelerate Digital Payments Expansion

Ghana’s digital payments backbone is tightening its leadership structure as it prepares for a more aggressive phase of growth in an increasingly competitive financial services landscape.
The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS ) has rolled out a new set of executive appointments designed to strengthen operational depth, sharpen strategy execution and drive innovation across its platforms.
The leadership overhaul comes amid rapid changes in Ghana’s financial ecosystem, where mobile money adoption, interoperable platforms and digital banking are redefining how transactions are conducted.

Strengthening Financial and Strategic Direction
At the core of the new structure is Eunice Amewu Nyadu, who assumes the role of Chief Finance Officer with responsibility for finance and strategy. Having previously built the institution’s financial and control systems, she is now leading efforts to reposition the organisation with a stronger, more scalable financial framework.
Her appointment signals a deliberate push to align financial strategy with long-term growth ambitions.

Expanding Market Reach
Akosua Blay has been confirmed as Chief Business Officer after serving in an acting role. With over 30 years of experience, including nearly two decades in payments, she is expected to drive business expansion and deepen adoption of national payment solutions.
Her focus will include strengthening relationships across banks, fintech firms and mobile money operators, while unlocking new growth opportunities within the ecosystem.

Driving Operational Excellence
On the operations side, Juliet Ackah-Nyamike takes on the role of Chief Operations Officer. With more than 20 years’ experience in digital payments and transactional banking, she is tasked with enhancing settlement systems, improving service delivery and reinforcing operational resilience.
These improvements are expected to support rising transaction volumes across Ghana’s increasingly digital economy.

Supporting Systems and Inclusion
Mary Dei Sarpong has been appointed Chief Shared Services Officer, overseeing administration and facilities management. Her experience in bulk payments, clearing systems and financial inclusion—particularly through the e-zwich platform positions her to support the institution’s broader infrastructure goals.

Strategic Leadership for Growth
Chief Executive Clara Arthur said the appointments reflect a conscious effort to strengthen leadership capacity in line with the organisation’s growth strategy.
“Their appointments reflect a deliberate step towards strengthening our leadership structure to enable us achieve our strategic priorities and position GhIPSS for the next phase of the company’s growth,” she said.
“I am optimistic that, with their support, we will continue to drive innovation, enhance operational excellence, and deliver greater value to our stakeholders.”
Outlook
As Ghana’s payments ecosystem becomes more integrated, GhIPSS remains central to enabling seamless transactions across banks, mobile money platforms and other financial service providers.
With a reinforced leadership team, the institution is positioning itself to scale infrastructure, improve efficiency and support the country’s transition to a more inclusive, digitally driven financial system.
