One Africa Securities gets BoG, SEC clearance to test tokenised investments

One Africa Securities Limited has secured admission to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Virtual Asset Sandbox, following its earlier admission to the Bank of Ghana’s Regulatory Sandbox as it explores the use of technology to widen access to investment products.

The company said its latest admission will allow it to explore asset tokenisation and bonds within a controlled regulatory environment.

One Africa Securities was among six entities admitted to the Bank of Ghana’s Regulatory Sandbox in January 2026 to explore the tokenisation of Treasury bills, bonds and commodities.

The company said participation in the two programmes would allow it to provide practical market insights as regulators develop frameworks for virtual assets and tokenised financial products.

Edward Illiasu, Group Head of Fixed Income and Director at One Africa Securities, said the dual sandbox participation reflected the company’s commitment to financial innovation within a regulated environment.

“Our participation in these regulatory sandboxes allows us to explore how technology can enhance financial markets while ensuring that innovation develops alongside regulation, trust and investor protection,” he said.

Digital platform planned

The company is also preparing to launch ChainOA, a digital investment platform aimed at making investment products more accessible to retail investors.

One Africa Securities said the platform is expected to launch across major app stores in September, starting in Ghana before expanding its reach across Africa.

Through ChainOA, users will be able to invest in Treasury bills, bonds and commodities with what the company described as accessible investment amounts.

Norbert Dziwornu, Group Head of Innovation at One Africa Markets, said the company’s focus was on using technology to reduce barriers to participation in financial markets.

“Technology should ultimately solve a real problem,” he said. “For us, that means reducing friction, improving the investment experience and enabling more people to participate in financial markets.”

One Africa Securities said it is building the platform with the wider African market in mind, beginning with Ghana.

The company is licensed by the SEC as a broker-dealer and is an authorised Primary Dealer and Bond Market Specialist in Ghana’s government securities market.
