University of Ghana Urges Vigilance as COVID-19 Cases Resurface

The University of Ghana Health Services Directorate has issued a public alert following a resurgence of COVID-19 cases on and around its campus.
In a notice released this week, the Directorate confirmed a few suspected and confirmed cases in the University’s vicinity, prompting renewed calls for strict adherence to preventive measures.
The Health Services Directorate urged staff, students, and visitors to remain vigilant and help curb the risk of infection and community spread. Among the key recommendations are the proper wearing of face masks, particularly in enclosed or crowded spaces; frequent hand washing with soap or use of alcohol-based sanitizers; maintaining at least one metre of physical distance where possible; and avoiding large gatherings unless absolutely necessary.
The Directorate also advised ensuring good ventilation in offices, lecture halls, and meeting rooms. Individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms have been strongly encouraged to stay home and seek prompt medical attention.
In response to the situation, the University has reactivated its COVID-19 Response Protocols, including screening and triage measures at its health facilities. The Directorate assured the community that it is closely monitoring developments and will provide regular updates.
“This is a collective responsibility. Let us work together to protect ourselves and our community,” the notice stated.
Members of the University community have been asked to contact the Health Services Directorate for further information or to report any symptoms.
