GACL debunks social media rumours on sale of unclaimed luggage at KIA
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has dissociated itself from a post on social media on alleged sale of “lost or forgotten bags” at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
It reiterated its commitment to protecting and safeguarding the interest of the general public.
A statement issued by the Company said in October 2024, their attention was drawn to a post circulating on social media, specifically Facebook, on an alleged sale of “lost or forgotten bags” at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
It said a disclaimer dated October 23, 2024 was issued to prevent the public from being defrauded.
The statement said they recently became aware of fresh attempts by these faceless individuals, once again using Facebook, to deceive the unsuspecting public into paying a specific amount of money.
It said GACL would like to emphatically reiterate that the post was completely false, orchestrated to misinform and dupe the unsuspecting public, and should thus, be disregarded.
The statement said for the record, GACL had verified social media pages through which information was disseminated to the public, and at no point had that responsibility been delegated to a third party.
