TotalEnergies Ghana Records Strong Growth, Eyes Bigger Gains in 2025

TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC has posted impressive financial results for 2024, with sales revenue reaching GHC 6.1 billion, an 11% increase over the previous year. The company also saw a 64% surge in profit after tax, rising from GHC 169 million in 2023 to GHC 277 million in 2024.

The company’s performance was unveiled at the “Facts Behind the Figures” forum, an initiative by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) that provides listed companies with a platform to engage stakeholders and investors. Addressing participants, Managing Director Olufemi Babajide attributed the company’s success to strategic investments, operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

A Key Player in Ghana’s Economy

Beyond its financial gains, TotalEnergies Ghana continues to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s economy through job creation and business support. The company directly and indirectly employs over 6,700 Ghanaians, working with local dealers, suppliers, contractors, and transporters. It also extends financial, technical, and training support to these partners, strengthening Ghana’s downstream oil and gas sector.

As a major taxpayer, TotalEnergies Ghana contributed GHC 1.7 billion to Ghana’s tax revenue in 2024, reinforcing its status as a development partner.

Empowering Entrepreneurs and Young Professionals

The company’s Young Dealer Scheme is transforming lives by allowing customer attendants to become fuel station managers without startup capital. Currently, more than 230 young Ghanaians benefit from interest-free financial support worth over GHC 280 million per month under this initiative.

Additionally, the biennial Startupper of the Year Challenge has supported over 60 young entrepreneurs, providing them with financial assistance, training, coaching, and publicity. To date, GHC 4.8 million has been invested in the program, helping young business owners grow their ventures.

Through its Young Graduate Program, TotalEnergies Ghana also grooms young talents for managerial roles. Since its inception, 39 young professionals have been recruited and trained locally and internationally, with many now occupying key positions within and outside the company.

Commitment to Sustainability and Social Impact

TotalEnergies Ghana continues to push sustainability efforts through its “5 Levers for Sustainable Change” framework. According to Mrs. Hannah Afriyie, the Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality Manager, key sustainability initiatives include:

  • Solar-powered service stations to reduce carbon emissions.

  • Biodiversity assessments to mitigate environmental impact.

  • Educational support programs for employees and local communities.

  • Engagement of physically challenged individuals in the workforce.

  • Mandatory human rights training for contractors and suppliers.

The company has also been actively involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, including scholarships for over 200 tertiary students, sponsorship of innovative programs, tree planting, beach cleaning, and career fairs.

Governance and Compliance

TotalEnergies Ghana maintains a zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance and has implemented robust internal controls. According to Director Rexford Adomako-Bonsu, this commitment to governance has resulted in multiple certifications.

Looking ahead, Managing Director Olufemi Babajide expressed optimism about 2025, citing the robust strategies adopted by the Board and Management. He thanked shareholders and investors for their continued trust, assuring them of even stronger performance in the coming year.
