Ghana’s mission in Qatar has issued an urgent security advisory directing all Ghanaians living in Qatar to take shelter until further notice, following heightened regional tensions and reports of missile activity affecting Doha.

In an official release dated February 28, 2026, the Embassy cited a missile attack and its impact in Doha as the basis for the alert, urging Ghanaian nationals to prioritise their safety and rely only on information from official sources.

The advisory instructed residents to remain indoors, avoid crowded areas, and stay away from military installations, warning that public exposure could increase the risk of harm as the situation develops.

Safety Measures and Preparedness

Ghanaians in Qatar were also advised to keep essential supplies on hand, including food and medication, to limit the need for movement during the period of uncertainty. The Embassy emphasised that the shelter directive remains in force “until further notice,” signalling that the security situation is still evolving.

Embassy Activates Emergency Support

To support nationals, the Embassy activated emergency communication channels and urged affected persons to reach out if assistance is required. Emergency hotlines and official contact details were provided to ensure rapid response and coordination.

The Embassy said it is closely monitoring developments and will issue updates as more information becomes available, stressing its commitment to the safety and welfare of Ghanaians abroad.

Rising Regional Anxiety

The alert comes against the backdrop of escalating security tensions in parts of the Middle East, prompting heightened vigilance by diplomatic missions and foreign governments. While details of the missile incident were not elaborated, the Embassy’s directive reflects growing concern over civilian safety in affected areas.

Ghanaians in Qatar have been encouraged to remain calm, adhere strictly to the advisory, and await further guidance from the Embassy as the situation unfolds.
