Onix, Africa Data Centres partner to enhance digital infrastructure in Ghana, West Africa

Two leading data centre organizations, Onix Data Centre and Africa Data Centres, have announced a strategic partnership to deliver top-quality data services in the West African sub-region.

The collaboration aims to boost digital infrastructure, ensuring data remains within borders for enhanced security and performance.

According to Yen Choi, CEO of Onix Data Centre, the partnership combines the strengths of both organizations to offer a more comprehensive service across the region. “By combining forces, we’re able to offer a more ubiquitous service throughout the region,” he explained.

Dr. Krishnan Ranganath, Regional Executive for West Africa at Africa Data Centres, emphasized the importance of keeping data within borders. “If services were hosted in-country, even with submarine cables cut, those services would remain active,” he noted.

The partnership aims to leverage innovative technologies and sustainable practices to enhance their ability to serve the West African market effectively. Both companies plan to invest heavily in technical capabilities, human capacity, and creating an ecosystem of professionals to handle and run the system forward.

Ghana, considered one of the most secure countries in Africa, is a key focus market for the partnership. “It’s an upcoming market, and that’s one of the reasons why everybody is focusing on the Ghana market,” Dr. Ranganath added.

The collaboration is expected to enhance the digital infrastructure in West Africa, providing better security, performance, and reliability for businesses and individuals alike.
