GIS Recalls 78 Officers for Disciplinary Review

In a decisive move to uphold discipline and due process, the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Samuel Basintale Amadu, has recalled 78 interdicted personnel back into service. The officers, comprising 14 senior officers and 64 other ranks, were initially suspended over allegations of recruitment and visa fraud, among other offenses.
During a meeting at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) headquarters, CGI Amadu clarified that the recall is not an act of amnesty but rather a step towards ensuring due process. He stated that all recalled officers will undergo internal disciplinary procedures, and those found guilty will face appropriate sanctions. He further assured that under his administration, disciplinary cases will not be delayed, emphasizing professionalism and accountability within the Service.
He warned that any future offenses, particularly related to fraud, recruitment malpractice, or visa irregularities, would be referred to the police for further investigation. Additionally, for those eligible for promotion, their status will be determined based on the outcome of their disciplinary proceedings.
CGI Amadu urged all officers to uphold the integrity of the Immigration Service by respecting both superiors and subordinates while maintaining high professional standards. He emphasized that his administration is committed to fairness, discipline, and maintaining the Service’s reputation.
The meeting was attended by senior GIS officials, including Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration (Operations and Command Post) Mr. Laud Affrifah, Deputy Comptroller-General (Finance and Administration) Mr. Isaac Owusu Mensah, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (Legal Research and Monitoring) Phillip Peter Andoh, and Deputy Commissioner of Immigration, Michael Asare Bediako, Head of the Human Resource Department.
