EOCO Dismisses Claims of Arrest of Springfield CEO, Affirms Ongoing Investigations

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has refuted claims published by online news portal Novareport alleging that Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, had been arrested or detained in Dubai over a petition of alleged fraud.

In a statement issued on 2nd November 2025, EOCO described the report as false and misleading, stating that it currently has two ongoing investigations involving Springfield Energy, but no arrest has been made.

According to EOCO, the first investigation stems from a petition lodged against Springfield Energy, while the second relates to a case between Springfield and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST). The Office explained that the matter involving BOST carries significant economic implications and is therefore being treated as a priority.

EOCO stressed that its operational policy requires investigations to be completed before any arrests are considered, not the other way around. The agency noted that Novareport did not seek clarification before publishing the claims.

“We wish to emphasize that the case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its immediate impact on BOST’s finances and the local economy,” the statement said.

EOCO assured the public of its commitment to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes, adding that it continues to work diligently to fulfill its mandate.

The Office urged the public to disregard the false claims and remain assured that the two investigations involving Springfield Energy are ongoing.

The statement was signed by the Head of Public Affairs on behalf of the Executive Director.
