Western Region Chiefs Back Dr Aubynn to Spearhead Petroleum Hub Project

Traditional leaders in the Western Region have thrown their full weight behind Dr. Toni Aubynn, CEO of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), as he spearheads efforts to establish Ghana’s first-ever Petroleum Hub. The chiefs believe the ambitious project has the potential to transform Ghana into a major petroleum refining and processing center in Africa, creating thousands of jobs and driving economic growth.

During a high-level engagement at the Western Regional House of Chiefs in Sekondi, Dr. Aubynn and his team outlined the immense opportunities the Petroleum Hub Project will bring to the region and the country at large. The chiefs lauded Dr. Aubynn’s extensive experience in the extractive industry, citing his leadership in both the mining and petroleum sectors as a critical asset in ensuring the project’s success.

“We are fully behind Dr. Aubynn and his vision for this transformative initiative,” the chiefs stated. “The Petroleum Hub will not only elevate Ghana’s position in the global energy market but also create sustainable livelihoods for our people.”

The Petroleum Hub Project, a flagship initiative of the government, aims to establish a world-class industrial enclave that will house refineries, petrochemical plants, and associated infrastructure. Once completed, it is expected to reduce Ghana’s reliance on imported petroleum products, enhance local value addition, and attract significant foreign investment.

With the strong backing of traditional authorities and industry experts, the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation is poised to accelerate the project’s implementation, positioning Ghana as a leading energy hub on the African continent.
