The Government of Ghana and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have announced the successful resolution of issues surrounding the US$750 million financing facility signed in 2022, paving the way for continued cooperation on Ghana’s development agenda.

In a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, December 25, 2025, both parties confirmed that outstanding matters linked to the facility had been settled to their mutual satisfaction.

The Ministry of Finance, acting on behalf of the Government of Ghana, said the resolution enables Ghana and Afreximbank to sustain their partnership at a time when the country continues efforts to stabilise the economy and support priority development programmes.

While specific details of the resolution were not disclosed, the statement signals an improvement in relations between Ghana and the pan-African development finance institution, which has played a key role in supporting trade, balance-of-payments financing and economic recovery initiatives across the continent.

The US$750 million facility, signed in 2022, formed part of Ghana’s broader financing arrangements during a period of heightened fiscal pressure and external financing constraints.

Analysts say the resolution sends a positive signal to international lenders and development partners, reinforcing confidence in Ghana’s commitment to honouring agreements and maintaining constructive engagement with its creditors.

The Ministry of Finance said the agreement allows both parties to continue collaborating in support of Ghana’s development priorities, as the country works to strengthen macroeconomic stability and restore investor confidence.
