52 Outstanding Students Honoured at President’s Independence Day Awards

Fifty-two exceptional students from public and private schools, including visually and hearing-impaired learners, have been recognized for their outstanding performance in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Nestlé Ghana Ltd., in partnership with the Ministry of Education, reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence by sponsoring the prestigious President’s Independence Day Awards.

Each awardee received a laptop, Nestlé souvenirs, a year’s supply of Nestlé products, a plaque, and a signed certificate from the President of Ghana. Ahead of the ceremony, the students participated in enriching activities, including a tour of Nestlé’s factory in Tema and visits to Jubilee House, the Ministry of Education, and the University of Ghana.

The awards ceremony, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, was graced by Ministers of State, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Heads of Departments and Agencies, and Traditional Leaders. The event aligned with the theme for Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebrations: “Reflect, Review, and Reset.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman congratulated the award recipients and urged them to remain committed to excellence. She also acknowledged the invaluable support of parents, guardians, and teachers in shaping the students’ success.

Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana Ltd., Mr. Georgios Badaro, pledged the company’s dedication to fostering positive change through education, noting that investing in young talent is key to national development.

Established in 1993, the President’s Independence Day Awards have consistently celebrated academic brilliance as part of Ghana’s Independence Day festivities. Nestlé Ghana Ltd. has proudly supported the initiative for over three decades, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement.
