Flood Victims to Receive Fast-Tracked Passport Replacements

Ghanaians who lost or damaged their passports during this week’s devastating floods will have their travel documents replaced under an expedited process, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
The intervention forms part of government efforts to support victims of the floods, which have claimed lives, displaced families and caused widespread destruction of property across several parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry expressed its condolences to families who lost loved ones and reaffirmed its solidarity with all those affected by the disaster.
Recognising that many victims may have lost important travel documents in the floods, the Ministry said it had decided to fast-track the replacement of all Ghanaian passports that were either lost or damaged as a direct result of the incident.
Affected persons have been asked to contact the Ministry through a dedicated hotline (055 936 8563) from Friday, July 3 to Friday, July 17, 2026, to begin the replacement process.
Applicants will be required to provide their names, dates of birth and gender exactly as they appeared in the lost or damaged passports, together with a contact telephone number to facilitate processing.
According to the Ministry, all eligible passports will be replaced within one week after the necessary verification has been completed.
The Ministry said the initiative reflects its commitment to easing the burden on flood victims while supporting broader government recovery efforts following one of the country’s worst flood disasters in recent years.
The announcement comes as state institutions continue to roll out emergency response measures aimed at helping affected households recover from the destruction caused by the floods.
